Mesmerizing! Experience the Most Breathtaking Views at Garrapata State Park

Ay Diooooo! There is an image in my mind when I think of the west coast. Picturesque views of beaches, redwood forests, sea otters holding hands, and ocean sprayed mountains. Big Sur’s Garrapata State Park has it all!

Come find your piece of the peace in California, away from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area. At Big Sur’s Garrapata State Park you can explore the hiking trails, take long walks through coastal forests, or be in tranquility at the beach, and you can’t miss the famous Bixby Bridge Creek and its amazing scenery.

Garrapata State Park offers a lot of activities that you and your family will love to do together or if you just want to take a break from the world. First of all, there is no internet access around this place, it's great for people who want a detox from social media, phone calls, or emails from work and capture nature.

The park is guided by rope pathways, stairs, and some portable restrooms at the park's signage. The park is huge and you will spend a couple of hours hiking up to the hills and down to the sand.

This place is amazing, to be at the edge of the American continent looking into the horizon. There are no photos or words that can accurately describe how wonderful this place is.

As you traverse through the path toward the bay, you feel immersed and engaged with nature's way of healing your soul.

You will find yourself standing at the edge of the cliff just watching the waves hitting the rocks, enjoying the different hues of blue water, the birds flying on top of your head, the solemn sound of the wind, the cold breeze on your face, and the colorful flowers around.

If you venture far enough, you will find one of the treasure spots of Garrapata Park, the Calla lily valley where these beautiful pure white lilies bloom between March and April. The Lilly valley is in between two hills where a hidden waterfall runs down the valley meeting the ocean.

Looking around you, you will notice people running around with their kids, sunbathing, groups of people picnicking, walking with their dogs, racing against the waves, reading and writing peacefully to the sound of the wind and the waves.

Vista point is also on the way to the bridge where you can quickly park and watch the view. This scenery parking is easy to miss especially when there are cars driving fast behind so watch out when you see the sign ahead.

The Bixby Bridge is a very busy area where most of the time, the parking is full, early morning is the best time to visit because people wait here to watch the sunset. While you are here, and you are feeling fancy, visit Rocky Point Restaurant or make a reservation if possible.

Thank you to everyone who made it this far. We at Goco Goes hope to develop and inspire people to travel, to listen to your heart, and to the pulse of nature. Join us!
