Should you quit your job?

My name is Goco and I quit my job to pursue a dream life centered around traveling authentically and connecting with people and nature.

I currently live in the Dominican Republic where I am beginning this journey by creating amazing travel experiences for anyone interested.

A full two months since I quit my job, I have a few thoughts about it.

First and foremost, I’ve never felt more excited about the possibilities to come. I feel assured by faith in my capability to connect with people and the value it can have for people who want to experience traveling like that.

I have yet to receive clients and the money is, well I’m not making an income at the moment.

I am living off prior investments I acquired and I am grateful to have that to help keep me going.

The investments allow me to float by as I figure this entrepreneur/travel blogger lifestyle out.

Sounds nice right? Well for many this is indeed an ideal lifestyle in the videos and fotos. But let me break down my current situation in a more comprehensive perspective.

I love a block away from the Caribbean Sea. Walking distance to three beautiful beaches, a supermarket, banks, restaurants, and a nice Dominican community.

I also live with flowing water two days a week, meaning I have to conserve the water I am able to collect during those two days for the other five days.

Not too difficult, but for many that might be a deal-breaker. Personally, I think all Americans should live a more conservative lifestyle regarding water use.

I also do not have an active income so I am living under very conservative means regarding my spending habits, living off of $1300 a month.

This brings me to the most significant point about quitting my job. My mentality.

I believe I will be successful. I believe that if I live true to myself, I will be happier. That positivity and unwavering faith in myself and in the universe keeps me going through the ambiguity of entrepreneurship.

If you desire stability and assurance from external sources such as a stable income and a job you can rely on. Then this is not for you.

I would recommend seeking a new job you can appreciate or seeking a hobby you can build upon to improve your quality of life.

Perhaps connect with people in your community and with nature.

If you read what I wrote and it excited you. Then I believe this is your path. My recommendation is to define clearly what you wish to do with your free time.

To define clearly what your budget will look like once you quit your job. Could you live comfortably during that transitional period?

If you can survive which I believe most of us can, then you should take your leap of faith. But only once you can clearly define your desired outcome.

It took a while for me to visualize it, but I got there and now I’m living my dream.

Peace

Goco
